Child Centered Disaster Risk Reduction Project

The above project was implemented in Nuwara Eliya district by this department and World Vision Sri Lanka to obtain children’s contribution in disaster management and to develop relevant skills in children. The closing ceremony of the project was held on 13^th December 2022 at Hotel Ramada, Colombo under the patronage of Mrs. Nilmini Herath, Additional Secretary (Development), State Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment and Mr. Namal Liyanage, Commissioner, Department of Probation and Child Care Services.

Director of the National Disaster Management Center, Director of World Vision Sri Lanka and a number of officials of government and Non- Governmental organizations were present at the occasion.

Children in Nuwara Eliya district who participated in the project also attended the occasion and their cultural events and other events added glamour to the ceremony.
