Discussion on the service activities of the Eastern Provincial Probation Commissioner\'s office

The discussion about the services of the Eastern Provincial Probation Commissioner’s Office was held on 30.01.2023 with the participation of the Department of Probation and Child Care Services, Eastern Provincial Probation Office and UNICEF and discussed on the implementation of alternative care policy in the Eastern Province, the current process of institutionalizing children within the province and existing problems and challenges were also discussed here. The role played by the Provincial Department of Probation was evaluated here. Awareness was also given on the programs implemented during the year 2022 based on the financial support provided by UNICEF.

Furthermore, the need to study the cost of money to provide necessary facilities for sending children to guaranteed schools was emphasized and the need to rehabilitate children within the family whenever possible was also pointed out.

A group of Probation Officers including Mrs. Miranda Armstrong, Head of Child Protection of UNICEF, National Probation Commissioner, Probation Commissioner to Eastern Province, Senior Probation Officer of Eastern were also participated in this event.
