The UNICEF Sri Lanka and the Department of Probation and Child Care Services has been carrying out a number of special programmes for so many years to ensure the safety of children. Following are the main programmes among them.
- Digital Story Telling Programme
- Child Centric Disaster Risk Reduction Programme
- Weather Kids Programme
- Strengthen Alternative Care System in Sri Lanka
- Reunification of Children in Child Development Centers
- Rehabilitation of children in conflict with the law
- Identification of children in child development centers who are able to reintegrate back to society through a survey
- Capacity building/ awareness or alternative care policy
- Identification children at risk of institutionalization and provide necessary assistance.
