According to the request and the information sent by the applicants, the existing records of the department, relevant records in the Provincial Department of Probation and Child Care Services, hospital records to certify birth, the CRPO’s record of the relevant DS office if verified that the mother had resided, the report of the Warden if the child had resided in a Children’s Home, are convened. Informing the applicants regarding the ability or inability of finding out the natural parents of the child according to the information of the reports.
For these types of children, reference should be made to the Child Rights Promotion Officer/Assistant, Sri Lanka Police, Child and Women’s Unit of the Divisional Secretariat or the relevant Probation Officer of your province.
Acceptance of disabled children and providing residential care is carried out by the relevant Provincial Department of Probation and Child Care Services. You should refer to the Probation Department of your province.
Relevant support/service could be obtained by referring to the Narcotics Prevention Officer – Divisional Secretariat, Social Service Officer/ Counseling Officer, Police/ Social Development Officer of the Samurdhi Division, Child Rights Promotion Officer/Assistant.
Placing children in orphanages are carried out as the final alternative. Orphanages and the placement of children in orphanages are handled by the respective Provincial Probation and Child Care Services Departments. The relevant details can be obtained from the respective Probation Officer of your area.
The requirements of the child should be explained to the Child Rights Promotion Officer/Assistance (DS office) and the required applications and relevant documents should be submitted through the Divisional Secretary to get benefits under existing assistance program.
There are opportunities to provide contributions for selected children through Athwela or Sevana Saran Assistance programs.
