Let\'s work together to protect our children-Meeting with the Non- Governmental Organizations

The Department of Probation and Child Care Services arranged a discussion with Non- Governmental Organizations to do a precise identification of programmes that the Department expects to implement in 2023, as well as to create a platform to move in a joint approach with NGOs when delivering services for the children. The discussion was conducted on 17^th January 2023 and chaired by Mrs. Yamuna Perera, Secretary to the State Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment.

Mrs. Miranda Armstrong, Head (Child Protection), UNICEF and representatives of 23 NGOs and INGOs working for children also attended the meeting. The Commissioner of the Department of Probation and Child Care Services also presided a round of sessions here, and issues the children face under the country’s current socio-economic situation, priority areas that need attention and the support participated agencies could extend to the Department were of interest there.
