Sectorial Programe (Protection and Legal) - First Day

A series of conferences have been organized to conduct for 04 days under 04 sections on the information gathering for the preparation of the 7th Periodic State Report on the Implementation of the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Children (CRC).

Accordingly, the 1^st sectorial program on Child Protection was held at the Monarch Imperial, Sri Jayewardenepura on 18.05.2023.

The Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment, Mrs. Nilmini Herath, Commissioner of the Department of Probation and Child Care Services Mr Namal Liyanage, Natasha Balendran (Consultant) and a group of officers, who are being engaged in Child Protection (Law) representing ministries, departments and institutions, participated in this event.

Activities regarding the gathering of information for the formulation of this report was implemented since 2018 and the purpose of conducting this workshop is to obtain further information regarding the final observations given on the 5^th and 6^th Periodic Report and positive measures taken by various institutions on the implementation of United Nations Child Rights Convention in Sri Lanka.

A few more workshops are to be conducted in the near future in this regard.
