Training of Officers for Raising Awareness of Children on Preventing the Use of Drugs

Nowadays children’s addition to drugs has become a serious social issue. A training program was conducted for the Child Rights Promotion Officers and Child Rights Promotion Assistants of the Western Province on 20.04.2023 by the Department of Probation and Child Care Services by obtaining resources from the National Board of Control of Dangerous Drugs, to provide skills required to raise awareness in children to prevent them from addiction to drugs and also to prevent tempting them to use these drugs.

Based on the practical activities, the necessary theoretical knowledge and the understanding required for the officers, in relevance to the prevention of tempting children to use of drugs, was provided through this program. Officers including all the CRPOs and CRPAs of the Western Province and the Commissioner of the Department of Probation and Child Care Services, Chairman of the National Board of Control of Dangerous Drugs and the Assistant Director of the National Board of Control of Dangerous Drugs, were participated in this training program. The sponsorship for this program was provided by the “Seiri” Institution.
